* Replace all usages of Blaze's Preconditions class with guava.Gravatar tomlu2017-11-09
| | | | | | | | Blaze had its own class to avoid GC from varargs array creation for the precondition happy path. Guava now (mostly) implements these, making it unnecessary to maintain our own. This change was almost entirely automated by search-and-replace. A few BUILD files needed fixing up since I removed an export of preconditions from lib:util, which was all done by add_deps. There was one incorrect usage of Preconditions that was caught by error prone (which checks Guava's version of Preconditions) that I had to change manually. PiperOrigin-RevId: 175033526

* Move ParsingFailureEvent reporting to TargetPatternFunctionGravatar ulfjack2017-07-18
| | | | | | | We're parsing the target pattern before we create the SkyKey, so all callers of the key creation also need to report this event. PiperOrigin-RevId: 162326973
* Remove ParseFailureListener in favor of posting to EventBus directlyGravatar ulfjack2017-07-18

* Provide more reporting options to SkyFunctions Gravatar Klaus Aehlig2017-02-27
| | | | | | | | | | | | | With more specific information to be reported by Skyfunctions, e.g., to inform the build-event protocol on missing files, the EventHandler interface is no longer enough. Therefore, provide an enriched context for reporting events. -- Change-Id: I2d06166fe4d5b9054e24ad8c752fafc039e3f9f8 Reviewed-on: https://cr.bazel.build/8794 PiperOrigin-RevId: 148463437 MOS_MIGRATED_REVID=148463437
* Expose parameterized aspects to Skylark.Gravatar Googler2016-05-09
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | There are no syntactic changes within Skylark; the only difference is that aspects may have non-implicit attributes, so long as they have type 'string' and use the 'values' restriction. Such aspects may only be requested by rules which have attributes with types and names matching the non-implicit, non-defaulted attributes of the aspect. This is not yet a complete match for native AspectParameters functionality since implicit attributes cannot yet be affected by attribute values, but that will be added later. Implicit aspects are still required to have default values. Non-implicit aspect attributes are considered "required" unless they have a default value. An error will occur if they are applied to a rule that does not "cover" all required attributes by having attributes of matching name and type. While non-implicit aspect attributes with a default are not required, they will still take on the value of a rule attribute with the same name and type if it is present. Aspects with non-implicit, non-defaulted ("required") attributes cannot be requested on the command line, only by a rule. RELNOTES: Expose parameterized aspects to Skylark. -- MOS_MIGRATED_REVID=121711715

* Move Label from the lib.syntax to the lib.cmdline package so that:Gravatar Lukacs Berki2015-09-21
| | | | | | | | | | - Label parsing can be simplified - lib.syntax is only contains the code for Skylark and is reasonably independent from the problem domain of building things This change is mostly only changes to imports declarations. The rest is reversing the dependency between :cmdline and :syntax and moving a tiny amount of code between Printer and FilesetEntry and the addition of SkylarkPrintableValue that I couldn't be bothered to separate out into its own change. -- MOS_MIGRATED_REVID=103527877

The old behavior was simply incorrect on --keep_going builds because it meant any directory with an uncaught error caused all of its ancestors to not have any values. It wasn't noticed because SkyframeTargetPatternEvaluator was overly permissive in the errors it expects. We also use a singleton for the empty RecursivePkgValue which might have a negligible (beneficial) memory impact. -- MOS_MIGRATED_REVID=95037551
* Move target pattern parsing to key construction timeGravatar Mark Schaller2015-05-21
| | | | | | | | | | | | So that a subsequent commit can take advantage of semantic information known only after target patterns have been parsed, this commit moves parsing from pattern evaluation time to pattern key construction time. This leads toward more efficient processing of target patterns in target pattern sequence evaluation. -- MOS_MIGRATED_REVID=94025646

* Add a SkyQueryEnvironment which runs queries by examining the Skyframe graph.Gravatar Janak Ramakrishnan2015-02-26
| | | | | | | | | This environment eagerly preloads the transitive closure of a specified query "universe", and so may not be as efficient as the standard query for limited-scope queries. It is activated when the universe is specified and ordered results are not requested (since it is currently unable to order results). Tests were modified/added to exercise this environment where deemed interesting. Some ugly hacks were done to add coverage in AbstractQueryTest and friends, because currently even if the full depot is loaded (using //...), individual target patterns most likely won't be present in the graph. A better way to deal with this situation, suggested by felly, is probably to extract target pattern resolution logic to an auxiliary function so that query is able to resolve target patterns without mutating the graph, and then call into the read-only graph with the resolved patterns. That may be done in a follow-up, in which case the "scope" of every query could be //... . -- MOS_MIGRATED_REVID=87257028
