An optimizing compiler can remove checks for null on "this" if it chooses. To setup the LCD mode, see SkFontHost::SetSubpixelOrientation and SkFontHost::SetSubpixelOrder in SkFontHost.h. This patch also adds more fine grained control over hinting (again, only for Freetype currently).
