I get this error on OS X when setting the `-J` parameter to > 1, this works:

    git annex copy --to usb -J1 --auto

This consistently throughs the error (but seems to copy everything):

    git annex copy --to usb -J2 --auto

I'm running 6.20160126 on version 5 repositories.
