After that I grabbed a more recent version from https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/git-annex/4.20131101/+build/5189754 which is showing the same behavior. \"git show git-annex\" indeed shows the commit creating the uuid.log file on the git-annex branch. master has just one commit, with description \"created repository\" and creates a \"uuid.log\" file. The contents of the master uuid.log are identical to the one in the git-annex branch. I'm currently in the middle of trying out a git-annex setup so I can't switch versions again right now, but given the above I imagine a fresh 13.10 VM should show the same behavior. """]]
