I did some further testing, but I'm still stumped. If I run `cabal configure -O0 -fAndroidSplice --ghc-options=-v`, I get the following items in the resulting log file. (trimmed for space)

I'm not sure what \"hiding\" means in the context of GHC, but clearly it isn't working.
