In Abseil random, mocking was split across two different classes, MockingBitGenBase and MockingBitGen. This split existed because Google Mock is a test-only library that we don't link into production, so MockingBitGenBase provided a low-overhead scaffold used to lookup mocks when in test code, but which is unused in production code. That has been replaced by type-erasure which looks for a method named CallImpl with the correct signature. Weaken the coupling between MockingBitGen, DistributionCaller, and MockOverloadSet. Rename CallImpl to InvokeMock() Previously, the implementation of DistributionCaller was also split across different files using explicit instantiation of the DistributionCaller struct and some details in the Mocking classes. Now Distribution caller uses the presence of the InvokeMock() method to choose whether to use the mockable call path or the default call path. These functions revert to copying the data if any of the following conditions holds: - string size is at most kMaxBytesToCopy (511), to avoid the overhead of an external chunk for short strings; - less than half of string capacity is used, to avoid pinning to much unused memory. They were split previously to facilitate type identification without requiring marshalling routines to be exposed in header. * We do not need to store two vtable pointers. We can now store only one. The static type id can be deduced on request. Overall we are saving 24 bytes per flag according to size_tester run. It reduces the alignment of the data structure from a value larger than one to one. When applied to a structure, ABSL_ATTRIBUTE_PACKED reduces the alignment of a structure (alignof()) to 1. As a result, the compiler can no longer assume that e.g. uint32 members are aligned on a four byte boundary and hence is forced to use single-byte load and store instructions on CPU architectures that do not support non-aligned loads or stores. This is currently experimental and unsupported. This CL does a few things: 1. Adds the ABSL_DLL macro to any class holding a static data member, or to global constants in headers. 2. Adds a whitelist of all files in the DLL and all the build targets that are conglomerated into the DLL. 3. Immediately after waking up (when futex wait returns), the current thread tries to become idle doing bunch of memory loads and a branch. Problem is that there is a good chance that we woke up due to a wakeup, especially for actively used threads. For such wakeups, calling MaybeBecomeIdle() would be a waste of cycles. Instead, call MaybeBecomeIdle() only when we are sure there is no wakeup. For idle threads the net effect should be the same. For active, threads this will be more efficient. Moreover, since MaybeBecomeIdle() is called before waiting on the futex, the current thread will try to become idle before sleeping. This should result in more accurate idleness and more efficient release of thread resources. The main observable differences here are: 1) The types of `in_place_index_t<I>` and `in_place_type_t<T>` become function pointer types rather than structs when using the implementation that is not an alias of the std equivalents. 2) The types of `in_place_index<I>` and `in_place_type<T>` are not directly `in_place_index_t<I>` and `in_place_type_t<T>`, but rather they become function types that decay to the corresponding function pointer types. 3) The default constructor for `in_place_index_t` and `in_place_type_t` instantiations is no longer explicit, but for these templates I think that's less important than for something like `in_place_t` since the _type_t and _index_t versions basically never have their template parameter non-deduced when participating in overload resolution with conflicting candidates. 4) While idiomatic usage of `in_place_type_t` and `in_place_index_t` with std::variant and std::any should not be affected, there is the possibility that strange, non-idiomatic uses may be affected in the wild. 5) Default construction (rather than value-initialization) leads to a default-constructed pointer.
