| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The single remaining use is in library/states.ml. This use should be reviewed, as it is most certainly broken. The other uses of Loadpath.get_paths did not disappear by miracle though. They were replaced by a new function Loadpath.locate_file which factors all the uses of the function. This function should not be used as it is as broken as Loadpath.get_paths, by definition. Vernac.load_vernac now takes a complete path rather than looking up for the file. That is the way it was used most of the time, so the lookup was unnecessary. For instance, Vernac.compile was calling Library.start_library which already expected a complete path. Another consequence is that System.find_file_in_path is almost no longer used (except for Loadpath.locate_file, obviously). The two remaining uses are System.intern_state (used by States.intern_state, cf above) and Mltop.dir_ml_load for dynamically loading compiled .ml files.

To flip it, one can "Set/Unset Silent" in both coqtop and coqc mode. It is still messy, but the confusion between -verbose and Flags.verbose has gone (I must have identified the two things with my initial STM patch)

| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Instead of modifying exceptions to wear additional information, we instead use a dedicated type now. All exception-using functions were modified to support this new type, in particular Future's fix_exn-s and the tactic monad. To solve the problem of enriching exceptions at raise time and recover this data in the try-with handler, we use a global datastructure recording the given piece of data imperatively that we retrieve in the try-with handler. We ensure that such instrumented try-with destroy the data so that there may not be confusion with another exception. To further harden the correction of this structure, we also check for pointer equality with the last raised exception. The global data structure is not thread-safe for now, which is incorrect as the STM uses threads and enriched exceptions. Yet, we splitted the patch in two parts, so that we do not introduce dependencies to the Thread library immediatly. This will allow to revert only the second patch if ever we switch to OCaml-coded lightweight threads.

The main application could be to group the commands for Time. There is room for such an application in the syntax, but I unplugged the syntax for the time being. The syntax would conflict with the use of a standalone dispatching tactical [ t1 | t2 | … | tn ]. I took the opportunity to separate the code dedicated to lists of commands in a separate type from vernac_expr.

Small proofs may take less time than the overhead delegation implies (marshalling, etc...). Now it delegates only proofs that take >= 1 second. By default a proof takes 1 second (that may be wrong). If the file was compiled before, it reuses the data stored in the .aux file and assumes the timings are still valid. After a proof is checked, Coq knows how long it takes for real, so it wont predict it wrong again (when the user goes up and down in the file for example). CoqIDE now sends to Coq, as part of the init message, the file name so that Coq can load the .aux file.

They are part of the Library.seg_univ segment and are hence added to the safe env when the vo file is loaded. The seg_univ has been augmented. It is now: - an array of universe constraints, one for each constant whose opaque body was computed in the vi2vo phase. This is useful only to print the constants (and its associated constraints). - a union of all the constraints that come from proofs generated in the vi2vo phase. This is morally the missing bits in the toplevel module body stocked in the vo file, and is there to ease the loading of a .vo file (obtained from a .vi file). - a boolean, false if the file is incomplete (.vi) and true if it is complete (.vo obtained via vi2vo).

This means they are values (inside a box). This invariant does not hold for vi files. E.g. opauqe_proofs can be dangling Future.computation (i.e. NotHere exception). The vi2vo compilation step will replace them by true values. Rationale for opaque_univs: in the vi2vo transformation we want to reuse the lib segment. Hence the missing pieces have to be put on the side, not inside. Opaque proof terms are already in a separte segment. Universe constraints are not, hence the new opauqe_univs segment. Such segment, if present in a .vo file, is always loaded, and Declare.open_constant will add to the environment the constraints stored there. For regular constants this is not necessay since the constraints are already in their enclosing module (and also in the constant_body). With vi2vo the constraints coming from the proof are not in the constant_body (hence not in the enclosing module) but there and are added to the environment explicitly by Declare.open_constant. Rationale for discharge: vi2vo produces a proof term in its original context (in the middle of a section). Then it has to discharge the object. This segment contains the data that is needed in order to do so. It is morally the input that Lib.close_section passes to Cooking (via the insane rewinding of libstack, GlobalRecipe, etc chain). Checksums: the checksum of .vi and a .vo obtain from it is the same. This means that if if b.vo has been compiled using a.vi, and then a.vi is compiled into a.vo, Require Import b works (and recursively loads a.vo).

The aux file contains the time that it took to check the proofs stored in the .vi files last time the file was fully checked. This user interface is still very rough, it should probably run the workers instead of just printing their command line.

The observe id function runs the transactions necessary to reach to the state id. Transaction being on a merged branch are not executed but stored into a future. The finish function calls observe on the tip of the current branch. Imperative modifications to the environment made by some tactics are now explicitly declared by the tactic and modeled as let-in/beta-redexes at the root of the proof term. An example is the abstract tactic. This is the work described in the Coq Workshop 2012 paper.
