* Remove reference name type.Gravatar Maxime Dénès2018-06-18
| | | | | | | | reference was defined as Ident or Qualid, but the qualid type already permits empty paths. So we had effectively two representations for unqualified names, that were not seen as equal by eq_reference. We remove the reference type and replace its uses by qualid.

| * [api] Make `vernac/` self-contained.Gravatar Emilio Jesus Gallego Arias2018-05-27
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | We make the vernacular implementation self-contained in the `vernac/` directory. To this extent we relocate the parser, printer, and AST to the `vernac/` directory, and move a couple of hint-related types to `Hints`, where they do indeed belong. IMO this makes the code easier to understand, and provides a better modularity of the codebase as now all things under `tactics` have 0 knowledge about vernaculars. The vernacular extension machinery has also been moved to `vernac/`, this will help when #6171 [proof state cleanup] is completed along with a stronger typing for vernacular interpretation that can distinguish different types of effects vernacular commands can perform. This PR introduces some very minor source-level incompatibilities due to a different module layering [thus deprecating is not possible]. Impact should be relatively minor.

* [located] Push inner locations in `reference` to a CAst.t node.Gravatar Emilio Jesus Gallego Arias2018-03-09
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | The `reference` type contains some ad-hoc locations in its constructors, but there is no reason not to handle them with the standard attribute container provided by `CAst.t`. An orthogonal topic to this commit is whether the `reference` type should contain a location or not at all. It seems that many places would become a bit clearer by splitting `reference` into non-located `reference` and `lreference`, however some other places become messier so we maintain the current status-quo for now.

* | ssr: rewrite Ssripats and Ssrview in the tactic monadGravatar Enrico Tassi2018-03-04
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Ssripats and Ssrview are now written in the Tactic Monad. Ssripats implements the => tactical. Ssrview implements the application of forward views. The code is, according to my tests, 100% backward compatible. The code is much more documented than before. Moreover the "ist" (ltac context) used to interpret views is the correct one (the one at ARGUMENT EXTEND interp time, not the one at TACTIC EXTEND execution time). Some of the code not touched by this commit still uses the incorrect ist, so its visibility in TACTIC EXTEND can't be removed yet. The main changes in the code are: - intro patterns are implemented using a state machine (a goal comes with a state). Ssrcommon.MakeState provides an easy way for a tactic to enrich the goal with with data of interest, such as the set of hyps to be cleared. This cleans up the old implementation that, in order to thread the state, that to redefine a bunch of tclSTUFF - the interpretation of (multiple) forward views uses the state to accumulate intermediate results - the bottom of Sscommon collects a bunch of utilities written in the tactic monad. Most of them are the rewriting of already existing utilities. When possible the old version was removed.
* | [econstr] Continue consolidation of EConstr API under `interp`.Gravatar Emilio Jesus Gallego Arias2018-02-28
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This commit was motivated by true spurious conversions arising in my `to_constr` debug branch. The changes here need careful review as the tradeoffs are subtle and still a lot of clean up remains to be done in `vernac/*`. We have opted for penalize [minimally] the few users coming from true `Constr`-land, but I am sure we can tweak code in a much better way. In particular, it is not clear if internalization should take an `evar_map` even in the cases where it is not triggered, see the changes under `plugins` for a good example. Also, the new return type of `Pretyping.understand` should undergo careful review. We don't touch `Impargs` as it is not clear how to proceed, however, the current type of `compute_implicits_gen` looks very suspicious as it is called often with free evars. Some TODOs are: - impargs was calling whd_all, the Econstr equivalent can be either + Reductionops.whd_all [which does refolding and no sharing] + Reductionops.clos_whd_flags with all as a flag.

* [ast] Improve precision of Ast location recognition in serialization.Gravatar Emilio Jesus Gallego Arias2018-02-22
| | | | | | | | | We follow the suggestions in #402 and turn uses of `Loc.located` in `vernac` into `CAst.t`. The impact should be low as this change mostly affects top-level vernaculars. With this change, we are even closer to automatically map a text document to its AST in a programmatic way.
* Adding support for parsing subterms of a notation as "pattern".Gravatar Hugo Herbelin2018-02-20
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This allows in particular to define notations with 'pat style binders. E.g.: A non-trivial change in this commit is storing binders and patterns separately from terms. This is not strictly necessary but has some advantages. However, it is relatively common to have binders also used as terms, or binders parsed as terms. Thus, it is already relatively common to embed binders into terms (see e.g. notation for ETA in output test Notations3.v) or to coerce terms to idents (see e.g. the notation for {x|P} where x is parsed as a constr). So, it is as simple to always store idents (and eventually patterns) as terms.
* Adding patterns in the category of binders for notations.Gravatar Hugo Herbelin2018-02-20
| | | | | | | | | For instance, the following is now possible: Check {(x,y)|x+y=0}. Some questions remains. Maybe, by consistency, the notation should be "{'(x,y)|x+y=0}"...

* Remove "obsolete_locality" and fix STM vernac classification.Gravatar Maxime Dénès2017-11-29
| | | | | | | | | | We remove deprecated syntax "Coercion Local" and such, and seize the opportunity to refactor some code around vernac_expr. We also do a small fix on the STM classification, which didn't know about Let Fixpoint and Let CoFixpoint. This is a preliminary step for the work on attributes.

| | | | | | | | | | To that extent we introduce a new prototype vernacular extension macro `VERNAC COMMAND FUNCTIONAL EXTEND` that will take a function with the proper parameters and attributes. This of course needs more refinement, in particular we should move `vernac_command` to its own file and make `Vernacentries` consistent wrt it.
* [printing] Deprecate all printing functions accessing the global proof.Gravatar Emilio Jesus Gallego Arias2017-11-21
| | | | | | | | | | | We'd like to handle proofs functionally we thus recommend not to use printing functions without an explicit context. We also adapt most of the code, making more explicit where the printing environment is coming from. An open task is to refactor some code so we gradually make the `Pfedit.get_current_context ()` disappear.

* Making detyping potentially lazy.Gravatar Pierre-Marie Pédrot2017-09-04
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The internal detype function takes an additional arguments dictating whether it should be eager or lazy. We introduce a new type of delayed `DAst.t` AST nodes and use it for `glob_constr`. Such type, instead of only containing a value, it can contain a lazy computation too. We use a GADT to discriminate between both uses statically, so that no delayed terms ever happen to be marshalled (which would raise anomalies). We also fix a regression in the test-suite: Mixing laziness and effects is a well-known hell. Here, an exception that was raised for mere control purpose was delayed and raised at a later time as an anomaly. We make the offending function eager.
* [api] Remove type equalities from API.Gravatar Emilio Jesus Gallego Arias2017-07-25
| | | | | | | | | | | | This ensures that the API is self-contained and is, well, an API. Before this patch, the contents of `API.mli` bore little relation with what was used by the plugins [example: `Metasyntax` in tacentries.ml]. Many missing types had to be added. A sanity check of the `API.mli` file can be done with: `ocamlfind ocamlc -rectypes -package camlp5 -I lib API/API.mli`
